For those Sydney-siders who read this blog, you are well aware of the cool start to summer, and probably the whinging people about how cold it is.
It seems that the cold, wet weather can actually be good for us. I think we are now living in a world that is too ‘sterilised’ for our own good, and that many of our illnesses are because we protect ourselves with the likes of sanitiser gels, and seeing the doctor at the smallest cough, and not letting kids get dirty.
I almost never use a sanitiser gel, nor do I see the doctor (I’m lucky to see them once a year), and I’m pretty sure I got dirty out and about. I feel that because of that, I hardly ever get sick, and I generally don’t catch colds or anything from those around me, at work, home, or church. I either have a strong immune system, or I don’t live in a ‘sterilised’ world.
